Many of us pass people experiencing homelessness every day, at intersections, on sidewalks, in moments we don’t quite know how to face. Often, we look away.

The Stories of the Street is a collection of real life narratives from individuals living on the streets of downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Gathered through hours spent simply sitting and listening, these stories reveal lives shaped by loss and resilience, struggle and survival.

Written by medical students and premedical undergraduates working alongside street medicine volunteers, this book does not offer solutions or easy answers. Instead, it invites readers to slow down, to listen, and to recognize the humanity of those too often unseen.

Before there is a need, there is a person. And every person has a story worth hearing.
